International Indigenous Climate Adaptation Research Project launched in 2024.

Our work together

Co-Development of Climate Priorities and Knowledge Needs

Work Package 1 (WP1): Co-development of Climate Priorities and Knowledge Needs will allow for regional determination of key climate risks and identification of strengths and gaps within each region’s climate change knowledge systems. WP1 is co-lead by Drs. Brattland & Walker.

Knowledge Production from Multiple Systems

Work Package 2 (WP2): Knowledge Production from Multiple Systems will gather complimentary data and knowledge to more fully understand biophysical and cultural impacts of climate change in the context of each region. WP2 is co-lead by Drs. Grabowski & Gaski.

Co-Production of Indigenous Governance Mechanisms

Work Package 3 (WP3): Co-production of Indigenous Governance Mechanisms will mobilize the Indigenous and Western science gained throughout the project to produce adaptable tools and approaches to be shared with other Indigenous groups as potential guides for climate change risk assessment and action. WP3 is co-lead by Drs. Denny & Smith.

Research Collaboration, Communication, and Knowledge Mobilization

Work Package 4 (WP4): Research Collaboration, Communication, and Knowledge Mobilization will provide continuous support for all research team members, collaborators, and participating community organizations to ensure successful and effective completion of this proposed work. WP4 is lead by Dr. Gagnon.
